Those Who Bless You

October 25, 2012 - 5:00 am

“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”
— Genesis 12:3

The Torah portion for this week, Lech Lecha, is from Genesis 12:1–17:27 and Isaiah 40:27–41:16.

God’s gifts come in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they come in the form of an unexpected check, and other times in the form of healing. Everyone wants to be showered with God’s many blessings, but not everyone knows how. What’s the key that unlocks the gates of God’s favour?

Genesis 12 gives us the answer. God said to Abraham: “I will bless those who bless you…and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” God makes the answer very clear. Those who bless the Jewish people will be rewarded with many blessings themselves.

Here at The Fellowship, we have seen how God makes good on His promise. We have received countless letters from people who choose to give to God’s people and then find themselves inexplicably blessed as well. Here is just one example of the many stories that we receive:

Jay and Jo Anne are a benevolent couple who enjoy giving wisely. After hearing about The Fellowship, they decided on an amount of money that they wished to contribute — enough for one Jew to return home. Then, unexpectedly, Jay and Jo Anne received four checks in the same day. But the most amazing part was that when they added all of the money up, it was exactly the amount that they had planned to donate!

Jay said, “It became pretty clear that God wanted us to give to the Jewish people.” And that was just the beginning of the “bless fest” that God orchestrated between needy, hurting Jews and Jay and Jo Anne. This couple gave to all aspects of The Fellowship’s ministry – from food boxes, to orphanages, to bringing Jews back to Israel. Jay shares what happened next.

“A floodgate of blessings opened up for our family in a very short period of time. Our adult children received pay raises, our granddaughter who had severe food allergies was healed, and many other spiritual and emotional healings took place throughout our immediate and extended family,” he recalled.

It is our hope at The Fellowship that you will be inspired by Jay and Jo Anne’s story. As Scripture reminds us, “He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind” (1 Samuel 15:29). God does not go back on His Word. What God says in Genesis 12 is true forever! Those who bless the Jewish people and the State of Israel will undoubtedly enjoy great blessings themselves.

The Fellowship is committed to bringing blessings to the Jewish people in every way. Take a look at our website and check out our many opportunities to help those in need. Join us in bringing blessings to Israel, and you will find that you enjoy God’s many blessings as well.
